Two medieval jewels
San Gimignano with its distinctive towers is a worthy symbol of the Chianti Country and the Val D'Orcia “ruled” by unique flavors and good traditional foods.

Volterra, the medieval city known for alabaster carving, features the splendid ruins of the Etruscan Acropolis and Roman Amphitheater.
Strolling through the city center you can stop and visit the Museo Etrusco, the Pinacoteca, the Museo d’Arte Sacra and the Ecomuseo dell'Alabastro.
Continuing your walk towards the city’s artistic heart you can admire Piazza San Giovanni with the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta and the Baptistery of San Giovanni, all important examples of medieval architecture. Next to the cathedral is the Palazzo dei Priori on the piazza of the same name. The building, begun in 1208, is the oldest civic building in Tuscany.
